Causes of Nausea aplenty
Nausea is a queasy sensation accompanied by an urge to vomit though it does not necessarily lead to it every time. Nausea is the process by which the human body reacts to unfavorable conditions and infections.

In cases where nausea is accompanied by vomiting, it is important to consume plenty of fluids. This is done to restore the fluids that are lost due to vomiting. Usually nausea is not a life threatening condition, but nausea occurring for long duration and repeated vomiting sometimes lead to dehydration and even shock.

Causes-
There are numerous causes of nausea. Most of them are activated by either a feeling of dizziness or the gastrointestinal tract. Nausea is not a disease by itself and rather, it is the symptom of a different disorder. One can feel nauseated due to slowing down of digestive system. Sometimes the food being consumed travels in the small intestine in the wrong direction.

Some of the common causes are:
  • Emotional stress or anxiety
  • Fatigue
  • Infections
  • Early pregnancy (also known as morning sickness)
  • Motion and sea sickness
  • Food intolerance
  • Viruses affecting your intestinal system
  • Intense pain
  • Gall bladder disease
  • Kidney disorder
  • Bulimia
  • Chemotherapy
  • Alcohol or "street" drugs, such as cocaine, acid, heroin, and ecstasy.

Among the several causes of nausea, its infection generally affects the gastrointestinal tract. Even infection leading to breathlessness can trigger nausea as they deprive the brain of oxygen. Any illness or injury of the brain can also cause nausea. Stress, anxiety, fatigue and vertigo can all lead to nausea as they affect the brain.

Many pregnant women experience the stage called 'morning sickness'. There is no apparent cause for it and it ends around the twelfth week of pregnancy. Vomit-preventing drugs are used only in severe cases. Having empty stomach is the main cause for morning sickness.

Motion sickness is another common factor that leads to nausea. A person suffering from motion sickness should breathe fresh cool air. Lying down during nausea also helps. One should avoid doing any activity which requires constant focus at a point when having the feeling of nausea. When going on a long trip like a cruise on the ocean, scopolamine skin patches benefit the most. But they are not very popular as they have many side effects like dry mouth, impaired sight and sleepiness.

The best way to treat nausea is to treat the underlying cause. One should take care of some points during nausea such as:
  • Lie down
  • Drink lots of clear fluids
  • Avoiding using aspirins or other medicines which might lead to an upset stomach.
  • Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol
