Headache is a very common problem. Everybody has experienced headache at some point of time. There are several different kinds of headache like hypertension headache, acupressure headache, tension headache, sinus headache, cluster headache, eye strain headache, blurred vision headache, daily headache and so on. Migraine is also a kind of headache and can be treated with proper medication, but all migraine medications prove useless unless proper health regime is followed. Intake of relatively small amounts of riboflavin (vitamin B2) may reduce the frequency and severity of riboflavin migraines in chronic sufferers.

Riboflavin was originally considered for migraine headache treatment because researchers observed that migraine sufferers tend to have impaired energy production in brain cells, which riboflavin has the potential to enhance being a component of a key substance involved in energy production. Riboflavin does not appear to cause any significant adverse effects even when high doses are administered, but it is possible that taking large amounts of it might cause subtle imbalances in body chemistry. For that reason, lower doses are preferable.

Riboflavin, also known as vitamin B2, performs a variety of functions, from aiding in the manufacture of red blood cells to assisting in the extraction of energy from carbohydrates, protein, and fat. And now, it has presented itself as a possible headache reliever.
