Headache needs proper diagnosis. For proper diagnosis, the physician studies the cause and characteristics of every type of headache.

In case of migraine and cluster headache, there is acute head pain. The basic physiology of this type of headache is the dysfunction of trigemino vascular system. This dysfunction is the root cause of vasodilation. Vasodilation, in medical terminology, is called the enlargement of blood vessels. The other problem which dysfunction causes is neurologic inflammation. Migraine is more acute than cluster headache. Many patients suffer from a mixed type of problem.

The migraine attack lasts from four to seventy-two hours. The prime symptoms of this attack are nausea and vomiting. Many other symptoms include sensitivity to light and aural visions. Male and female have both these types of headaches. The ratio of migraine headache in females is more than the males. But, the ratio of cluster headache in males is higher than females.

The migraine has a longer duration period than cluster headache. The cluster headache generally ranges from 20 minutes to three hours. Cluster headaches are more frequent than migraine. Cluster headache comes in the gap range of one to three days. The migraine attacks come to patients in a time range of one to eight months. The cluster headache comes twice in two months. Migraine attack, sometimes, comes two to eight times in a month.

In cluster and migraine headaches, one of the prime symptoms is the presence of pain around the eyes. This is called lacrimation in the medical terminology. Lacrimation occurs more in cluster headache. In case of migraine headache, lacrimation is less. The other main symptom of migraine headache is blurred vision. In migraine, blurred vision occurs more than cluster headaches. More than eighty five percent of people, with migraine headache, vomit.

Migraine headache can be treated in many ways. Relief from pain could be provided after reducing the frequency of attacks. Medication is necessary in the primary stage. Improvement in quality life and stress reduction is another treatment. Migraine, if not controlled in time, can lead to sinus, brain tumor, and even stroke.
